- Draft amendment to the B-BBEE codes reported2026-01-31
Minister Tau published draft amendments to the B-BBEE codes for public comment on 29 January 2026 (Government Gazette 54032, Notice 3744, Draft Statement 000 of 2026: General Principles and the Generic Scorecard), with 60 days for comments. We read the notice. It lists two key amendments: introducing a Transformation Fund under the enterprise and supplier development element, and changing the scorecard weightings. In the draft, the enterprise and supplier development element goes from 40 to 62 points (with a stated maximum an entity can score of 47) and the bonus points from 4 to 6, and the generic scorecard total from 109 to 131 points. The Fund has a 40% sub-minimum measured on 20 points. The EME and QSE thresholds stay at R10 million and R50 million. The draft says an entity in a sector with a sector code is measured only under that code. This is a draft only, we found no final version, and our assessments do not yet reflect it. Check the status with the dtic.
